For more than 25 years, Salem Montessori School has evolved from a “one-room schoolhouse” to a large community which sits on a beautiful 7-acre campus in Salem, Virginia. With forest and plenty of space to explore, our school encourages children to learn, create, innovate, and extend their learning beyond the classroom walls.
The educational and care programs at Salem Montessori serve children frombirth through adolescence in five different programs: Infant, Toddler, Primary, Elementary, and Middle School. In each program, we apply Montessoriphilosophy and practices, focusing on the cognitive, social, emotional and physical needs of each child. Salem Montessori strives to foster a love of learning in our students, while also working to educate children to be caring and socially responsible citizens of their community and world.
“We discovered that education is not something which the teacher does, but that it is a natural process which develops spontaneously in the human being.”
