Primary

PRIMARY PROGRAM (3 to 6 years)

The period from 3 – 6 years is the most important for laying the foundation for all future development. Learning patterns established in these early years produce confident, competent learners who are ready to move on to their elementary years.

The individualized style of the Montessori approach maximizes the realization of each child’s potential. Our primary classrooms provide experience-based activities in practical life, language development, sensorial exploration, mathematics, science, geography, physical education, art, music, cooking, sign language, and Spanish. The primary outdoor environment is an extension of the classroom where students can learn through gardening and exploring nature.

Salem Montessori School provides a 3-year sequential Montessori curriculum for 3 to 6-year-olds.  The mixed age group fosters an atmosphere of family and community. We offer a rich variety of opportunities for children to experience freedom within a secure, attractively structured and welcoming environment. Our Montessori-certified teachers guide the children through exploration and learning, observing and recording each child’s individual progress, knowing when to allow a child to work with genuine interest, or when to introduce a new challenge or point of interest.  The primary environment is designed to encourage your child’s natural love of order, independent work, concentration, and self-discipline. There is respect, genuine warmth, patience, and understanding at all times.

From Parents:

“It is great knowing that your kids only complaint about school is not being there long enough.

You know they are in a great, healthy environment when that is the case.”
